Your First Visit
When you arrive at the clinic you will be greeted by one of our friendly chiropractic assistants who will welcome you to the practice. You will be asked to take a seat in the reception area and fill out the initial consultation forms. One of our chiropractic assistants won't be too far away if you need any help filling out the forms. There is also water available at all times within the reception area. When it's time to begin the consultation, the chiropractic assistant will bring your through to the examination room and introduce you to the chiropractor.
Initial Consultation
Once you have met the Chiropractor and taken a seat, the Chiropractor will firstly ask you to explain the reason for attending the practice that day. We find it's very important to identify what's the main problem before beginning any other procedures. Once ready those procedures include the following,
- A thorough history assessment, firstly for the persons main complaints and secondly on the persons overall health and potential loss of wellbeing.
- Paraspinal thermal scan
- A postural analysis
- Range of motion examination
- Orthopaedic testing
- Neurological testing including muscle testing
- Functional testing
It's at this stage the chiropractor will have all the information necessary to decide whether any X-Ray of the spine is required. There are various reasons to take radiographs and these are included in the next tab, "why do chiropractor's take X-Rays". The initial consultation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Your Report of Findings
Your follow up visit is what we call the Report of Findings. It's here where your problem will be thoroughly explained to you and a recommendation for chiropractic care given. If any X-Rays were taken the chiropractor will go through every film taken and show you the findings. It's always important here that you are able to understand your health problem and how we might help you. We will also set a mutual goal and discuss how we can get the most out of your Chiropractic care. If we can make a good plan from the start, we often find that creates the best outcome for you.
Your First Adjustment
At the end of the report of findings when you are clear about your own case and our plan to get you back toward better health, we can begin that process. This is where you will receive your first chiropractic adjustment. Along with the adjustment your chiropractor will also give you advice on how initially to best care for your condition.
